On Saturday, March 4th, the women of Quilting for Kids gathered at the home of Jayne Ortiz to share their quilts and quilting ideas and stories, before having a wonderful lunch prepared by Ms. Ortiz. These women are involved in a caring mission, creating these wonderfully colorful and crafted quilts, crocheted blankets and crocheted and knitted hats and snuggle creations for sick children at the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital. It is difficult to summarize how caring are these women, for little children they do not know. They know that children are sick and feeling sad, and that their work might cause the children to smile. This group is amazing. They do good work, because it needs to be done. The quilts–130 items in all– will be delivered on Thursday, March 9th. And a special shout-out to two members of the group. The first is a lady who has moved to Florida, but, guess what? She continues to create and donate crocheted blankets to the group, and thence to the sick kiddies at the hospital. She loves doing this work and loves having her quilts given to sick children. And then we have a new young lady. This young lady is ten years old and has created a beautiful blanket, which we show below. This young woman has already discovered at her very young age that doing good is possible and rewarding. her blanket will also be given to some child who is ill and feeling very unhappy, and who will smile because she has been given this gift of love.
All we can say is good still prevails in this world of ours, because these women cause it to exist. Thank you ladies.

The ladies of Quilting for Kids gathered at the home of Carol Schmidt for some lunch, an exchange of views about their quilts and quilting, and to share the quilts they will be delivering to the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital on Thursday, November 17, 2016. The combination of quilts, crocheted blankets, snugglies, and crocheted hats total well over 120 items to be donated for sick kids. The ladies continue to design and produce these wonderful creations intended to make some sick children feel a little bit better during and after their experience at the hospital. Each child will take one of these loving creations home and will remember the kindness and love that is core to the endeavor of the women who work hard to produce sheer love.
Thank you, you wonderful ladies.

The Quilting for Kids gang gathered at Jayne Ortiz’ home for a luncheon and exchange of quilts and quilting information. They shared a sumptuous luncheon, exchanged information about their wonderful quilts and the quilting magic they perform routinely. The luncheon was in preparation for yet another delivery to the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital this coming Friday. At that delivery, the quilters will have surpassed 2,000 quilts delivered to the hospital aimed at making a few sick kids feel a lot cheerier. The women who make these quilts and crocheted blankets and snugglies are amazing folks who engage in this work of love simply to make sick kids feel better. This world is a better place because of them.

The wonderful Quilting for Kids women gathered Saturday at the home of Carol Schmidt for a luncheon and quilt showing for the next delivery to the hospital. The quilters shared their creations with one another, exchanged tips on their work and enjoyed a nice luncheon. The next delivery is scheduled for Friday, April 1st. The quilters are approaching 2000 creations for delivery to the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital. We think perhaps the next delivery, scheduled probably in July, will achieve that level. The quilters produce quilts, knitted and crocheted blankets, and knitted hats and snugglies. The sick kids at the hospital dearly love these creations, each of which is made with great love.
Here are a few of the creations, and the women who create these marvels.

Those wonderful quilters from Quilting for Kids made another delivery to the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital on December 11th, 2015. The quilters delivered 122 quilts, crocheted blankets and knitted caps and snugglies. This was a “just in time” delivery”, as the hospital had run out of quilts and the sick child census is still quite high. The flu season has kicked in on top of other child illnesses.
With this latest delivery, the grand total has climbed to just under 2000. We expect that the next quilt delivery will push that grand total for the group to over 2,000 quilts. Seems worthy of a special mention.
Carol, Jayne, and Heide joined with the caring nurse team from the Children’s Hospital wing to bring the quilts up to the kid wing.

The caring women of Quilting for Kids gathered at the home of Carol and Richard Schmidt on Saturday, July 25th for one of their periodic luncheons to share their creations, discuss quilting and to deliver their latest quilts bound for the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital, there to be given to some of the kids being cared for in that hospital. The quilters are a caring group, who do their artful work in order to bring some small measure of joy to some hospitalized kids. This delivery, scheduled for Friday, July 31st, will total 103 quilts, crocheted blankets, hats and snuggle bunnies, bringing the grand total delivered to the hospital by Quilting For Kids to 1793. Some pictures from the sharing luncheon are below, beginning with the crocheted hats and snuggle bunnies created by Jill Williamson:

Quilting for Kids delivered about 130 quilts, blankets, caps, and “snugglies” to the Jeff Gordon Children’s Center on Friday, March 20, 2015. The hospital was very happy to received all the items, since they were entirely out of any goods to hand out to their sick kiddies. Below are but a few of the quilts delivered to the hospital.

The quilters gathered at Jayne Ortiz’ home for a luncheon and sharing meeting. The quilters gather, deliver quilts for the sick kids at the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital, share a meal, and exchange quilting tips and stories. One of the highlights of these events is the sharing of quilts, during which the quilters get to show the group the quilts they have produced for the kids. The quilts continue to amaze, displaying both much work and creativity, and also a great deal of caring about children who are ill. These quilts, given to a sick child, produce a sense of warmth and caring from otherwise strangers. The kids smile, even though they feel unwell, because the shared love transports them.
The quilts from this delivery will be given to the hospital on December 12th, in time one hopes to brighten an otherwise unhappy season for some children. Bringing smiles to the faces of kids is what this group is all about.
A few of the quilts created by this group of talented, caring women are shown below.

The women of Quilting for Kids gathered at the home of Carol Schmidt for a luncheon, to exchange quilting ideas, and to show the quilts planned for delivery to the Jeff Gordon Children’s Hospital on Friday 08/29. These gatherings are both fun and an opportunity to share ideas about quilting, quilting supplies, and ways to share expertise.
A few of the wonderful quilts, and crocheted or knitted blankets, caps and baby cuddlies are shown below.

Another quilt delivery was made to the Jeff Gordon Children’s Center on May 16th. The group delivered 120 quilts, knitted and crocheted blankets and crocheted hats and snuggies. We were fortunate to be able to give one of the quilts to a 6-year old young man who was very happy to be able to take one of our quilts home with him.
